This week I was absent, and then I asked the lesson from my friend. She told me about how to add game and video in my CALL.   After that she taught me about how to point mouse on words or sentences that showed the photo from them, how to play music when I point mouse on words, sentences, or photos, and how to create exit page. I wanted to say “thanks you very much my friend”.

This week teacher taught me about how to created test with Adobe Captivate 8 program. It was easy to use this program and we could chose types of test. There were 5 types of test in this program that we must to use them usually in CALL; multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching short answer, and, true/false. After that we practiced to construct and use them in my project ,too. It was very funny and we could use them in education.

This week the teacher taught me about how to use program Adobe Captivate 8.  I learnt about to create the new project with it and then teacher taught me to chose the size 1024*768 in my project. After that I learnt to add the blank, insert many picture, add the text caption, and change a front with this program. Moreover, teacher taught me about how to make the test in this program and link frame into another frame by chose jump to slide that I wanted the frame to connect. Adobe Captivate 8 that helped me to create the project in CALL course and it is usefulness with Thai student at present too.

This week the teacher taught me about research Computer Assisted Language Learning and English Language Teaching in Thailand: Overview. I learnt about the development of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) that consist Behavioristic CALL, Communicative CALL, and Integrative CALL. After that I learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of CALL in language learning, Educational CALL Programs and ELT in Thailand, and Study on CALL in the Thai Context. Moreover, I learnt about how to use Adobe Captivate 8 and I use this program to build my CALL.

This week teacher taught me about Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)”. CALL mean the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning and I learnt about the different between CALL and CAI that CAI teach every subject but CALL  teach only language. More over, teacher taught about types of CAI
There were 7 types of CAI
   Tutorial activity includes both the presentation of information and its extension into different forms of work, including drill and practice, games and simulation.
Drill-and-practice opportunities or students to repeatedly practice the skills that have previously been presented and that further practice is necessary for mastery.
    Games software often creates a contest to achieve the highest score and either beat others or beat the computer.
    Simulation software can provide an approximation of reality that does not require the expense of real life or its risks.
    Discovery approach provides a large database of information specific to a course or content area and challenges the learner to analyze, compare, infer and evaluate based on their explorations of the data.
    Problem Solving this approach helps children develop specific problem solving skills and strategies                      
 Tests was the program that tested the student's knowledge.   

Finally, I learnt and presented about The Difficulties and Challenges of Teachers’ Integrating Computer Assisted Instruction into Teaching.

This week teacher taught me about False friendfrom the pair of work. The word False friendthat mean the word is a same sound but it differ meaning such as sexy in English that means น่าสนใจ or น่าตื่นเต้น”  but in Thai mean โป๊ะ or ยั่วยวน. After that I learnt about Applying Innovative Spirit to Multimedia Foreign  Language Teaching that my friend and I presented about it. After I presented finish, teacher asked many questions about it to me. After that I still listened the other content and could concluded "As a newly-emerged modern foreign language teaching form, multimedia foreign language teaching waits for the test of time. Without any problem in itself, its success depends on whether language teachers are initiative or not, whether they can fully exert the advantages of multimedia teaching to find and solve problems. As long as they deepen their research, sum up experiences and improve teaching methods constantly, multimedia will bring about more positive changes to foreign language teaching and therefore greater achievements will be made in our foreign language teaching".

       This week, teacher taught me about how to use Antconc and I could use it to calculate the number of words. There were 50,818 words that I found from the internet and saved in Notepad program. Moreover, it could told me about concordances, the frequency of words, the kind of words from left and right side, etc. After that teacher taught me about how to use English-Thai parallel corpora online from the link http://www.arts.chula.ac.th/~ling/ParaConc/. Finally, teacher gave homework for my couple and me and sent it in next week. I could learn a lot of knowledge from this class that they benefited with English class and me to developed English language from technology.

This week, I learnt about the using Corpus to find word and teacher taught me about how to made Corpus. After that I built my Corpus name “coffee” and found all information from the internet. Next, I collected information in Notepad program. Then she taught me how to download Antconc from the internet and chose all files (notepad) that I saved in the computer to calculate with Antconc. Antconc could show me about the number of words that I saved in notepad program. Finally, teacher ordered to find the words to at least 50,000 words.

     This week, I learnt outside the classroom about Introduction Corpus Linguistics: Concordances with Mr.Kriangkrai Vathanalaoha.He taught me about definition of corpus. Corpus is a large collection of texts. It is a body of written or spoken material upon which a linguistic analysis is based. The plural form of corpus is corpora. I knew Corpus began in 1897s and 1950s-1960s, historical overview, and the case for introspection; Chomsky said we should focus on language competence rather than language performance.After that I learnt about 7 types of Corpora.
1. Special Corpus
2. General Corpus(BNC)
3. Multilingual Corpus
4. Parallel Corpus
5. Learner Corpus
6. Historical or Diachronic Corpus
7. Monitor Corpus
Moreover, I learnt about process in Corpus Linguistics. Corpus could told about frequencies of word that I wanted to know how did it used, collocation, distribution information, keywords, and dispersion plots. Finally, I got a lot of knowledge from Corpus Linguistics listening training and it was very useful to use in my English learning.

    This week, I had to learn outside the classroom: seminar about Applying Linguistics for Teaching by Miss. Budsaba Kanoksilapatham. She taught a lot of things useful to me and who participated in the seminar. The English teacher needed to know about the teaching methods , Linguistic competence, Phonetic and phonology, etc.  I learnt to pronounce the letter “h”, consonant sound, and vowel sound such as think, thank, full, fool. After that, I learnt to stress 40 vocabulary such as ceremony, recycle, permit, character, miracle, hippopotamus, etc. Also, I learnt about collocations (economic crisis, black and white), Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, and Lexical Semantics ;English varieties such as AE and BE such as eraser-rubber ,tap-faucet. Moreover, I learnt the shades of meaning that word were the same meaning but which word is stronger than… such as boil is stronger than simmer ,Semantic Compatibility, and Discourse. In the seminar that made me practiced many skill of English language and knew about new information that can use in the classroom. Finally I understood the English language of Thailand children and recommendations for English teachers that improve education.

     This week, the teacher taught about adding friend’s link in my blog. After that I learnt to add clock, calendar, and counter in gadgets on my blog. In this class I also put the video that have educational benefits. Finally the teacher gave homework that make my profile, Acronyms, and learning log on my blog.

     This week,teacher taught about making blog. The first I must have G-mail address in order to register.Then I created  my blog from www.blogger.com  by using a name that “Computer Application in English Language Teaching” and I learnt many new vocabulary such as blog, technophone. After that I learnt to find and put free template on my blog from the internet. Finally teacher gave homework about acronyms that I should know in this subject such as IT, ICT,and CALL.

These are abbreviations I have learned in class.

The Acronyms



IT =Information technology  is the use of any computers, storage, networking and other physical devices, infrastructure and processes to create, process, store, secure and exchange all forms of electronic data.

ICT =Information and Communications Technology  is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.

CAI = Computer Assisted Instruction is an interactive instructional technique whereby a computer is used to present the instructional material and monitor the learning that takes place. CAI uses a combination of text, graphics, sound and video in enhancing the learning process. The computer has many purposes in the classroom, and it can be utilized to help a student in all areas of the curriculum.

CALL = Computer-Assisted  Language  Learning  is the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning.

CMC = Computer-Mediated Communication  is a process in which human data interaction occurs through one or more networked telecommunication systems.

TELL = Technology-Enhanced Language Learning  refers to the use of the computer as a technological innovation to display multimedia as a means of complementing a teaching method langauge teachers. 

WBI = Web - based Instruction   is teaching and learning supported by the attributes and resources of the Internet.

MUDs = Multi - User Dungeon is a multiplayer real-time virtual world, usually text-based.


MOOs = Multiple Domain Object Oriented is a text-based online virtual reality system to which multiple users (players) are connected at the same time.
